The bacterial strains in BactoLife AZ work synergistically to support each other’s growth and produce enhanced effects. They will create a ‘biofilm’ around roots and function very differently to bacteria left to float around in the soil water (planktonic).
The different strains of nitrogen-fixing bacteria in Bactolife AZ will suit different soils. If you were to purchase a product that has been optimised for one particular soil type, it may not suit your growing conditions. Consult your Biotechnica representative for further information.
In addition to nitrogen fixation, the microbes in BactoLife AZ will also assist with:
Bactolife AZ should be applied as a soil drench.
BactoLife AZ requires a food source(s) to maximise its potential effect. This is especially true on soils deficient in organic matter. Good bacteria food sources for soils include; sugar (molasses), compost, UAN fertilizer, and humic acids (BioHumate).
Apply 0.25-0.5kg/ha for soil treatment pre-sowing or at planting (potatoes/woody crops).
The initial treatment should be higher in soils where the biology is likely to have been degraded; such as from sterilization, fungicide treatment, extremes of pH or flooding.
0.25-0.5 kg/ha for subsequent applications.
BactoLife AZ is also suitable for ‘activation’/’reconstitution’ before application. This involves mixing BactoLife AZ into a nutrient solution at 30°C and aerating the mix for 24 hours. This process will ensure the dormant microbes are fully metabolising at the time they are introduced. Activated product must be diluted and used immediately and cannot be stored.
Consult your Biotechnica representative for crop specific protocols and more details on microbial activation.
BactoLife AZ is approved for use in organic cultivation by the Organic Farmers and Growers Association.
