Established in 1993, Biotechnica offer one of the most comprehensive ranges of agricultural regenerative biostimulants and are the UK’s largest manufacturer of seaweed extracts. We also produce seaweed polysaccharides, which are used as animal feed supplements towards their gut health. Working with Norfolk Seaweed Ltd, they have been assessing cultivated seaweed to produce agricultural biostimulants. In early 2024, they oversaw the first spring barley trials with the Catalyst farming group in Holkham, using a group of such biostimulants. They aim to prove the possible reduction of chemical fertiliser use of up to 15 – 20% and will continue this work over the next three years, to extend the type of crops being trialed. Schalk has a Masters degree, in chemical engineering. Geeta Sharma, Scientific Operations Geeta is responsible for the scientific development of Biotechnica’s technology portfolio. Overseeing all work in Biotechnica’s own laboratory, as well as any contracted services to external laboratories, Geeta drives the company’s biomolecular development and is instrumental in co-creating the regulatory infrastructure of parent company, Central Pharma Contract Holdings (CPCH).
